The Mysterious Friend
The Mysterious Friend
ASSALAM O ALIKUM This story is something I witnessed with my own eyes, and today I am sharing it with you all.
I was about 11 years old when this incident happened. We had shifted to Nazimabad. Our house was quite big, and I liked it very much. There was an additional floor above our house where I often saw a girl around my age. I used to play alone near the stairs of our portion, and that girl would often watch me. But whenever I called her, she would hide.
One day, I was playing, and that girl was watching me. I said to her, "Come play with me." This time, she didn’t run away; instead, she came to play with me, and we became friends. Her name was Saadia. She and I started playing together every day. On one hand, I was very happy to have a friend, but on the other, some strange things began happening to me. Often at night, I would wake up and see someone sitting on a chair near my bed.
Now, I played with Saadia every day. One day, while Saadia and I were playing, my mother suddenly came in and asked, "Who are you talking to?" "I replied to my mother that I was talking to my friend Sadia, but when my mother asked, 'Where is Sadia?' I turned around and saw that Sadia wasn't there." How did she disappear so quickly? I was still wondering when my mother told me to stop playing and come inside. My mother asked about Saadia, so I told her that Saadia lives upstairs, and the matter was left there.
Now, every night, I started seeing a frightening woman with long hair and a terrifying face sitting on a chair. One night, that woman came and sat right beside my head, and I screamed in fear. My parents woke up from my scream and asked what happened. I told them everything—that I see a woman every night, and tonight she sat near my head. My mother also told my father about Saadia, explaining that there was someone living in the portion above us with whom I played. There was a girl named Saadia. My father said they would talk to the landlord the next day.
The next day, when they spoke to the landlord, he told them that the upper portion was empty and no one lived there anymore. I told him that my friend Saadia used to come from upstairs, and we played together every day.
Then the landlord revealed that Saadia and her mother used to live in the upper portion. Saadia’s mother was very protective of her and wouldn’t allow her to meet or talk to anyone. One day, Saadia insisted on playing outside with other children and refused to listen to her mother. In anger, Saadia’s mother pushed her. Saadia’s head hit the wall hard, and due to a severe head injury, Saadia passed away. After that, Saadia’s mother’s mental condition worsened, and in her depression, she jumped off the roof, resulting in her death too.
After hearing all this, my family and I were very disturbed. My parents immediately decided to leave that house, and we shifted somewhere else. After that, everything returned to normal.
