The Haunted Ride: A Husband’s Story of His Wife’s Descent into Madness

My name is Amir, I live in Karachi. Some time ago, I got married. My wife’s name was NAZIA, she was a very well-mannered, sensible girl. Our marriage was arranged, so we often went out for long drives or dinner to get to know each other better.

That day too, we went out for a long drive to spend time together. My wife loved wearing perfume, and she had a strong rose scent. Anyway, we drove quite far while talking. It was a deserted road, surrounded by tall, dark trees, cool breeze, and our car was the only one on the road. There was no one else for mile.

Suddenly, in the darkness of the night, something hit my car. I quickly applied the brakes and stopped the car. We both got out of the car to see what had happened and saw that a black cat had come under our car. My wife got very scared, and we immediately drove back home. Since that day, my wife had been very restless. She would stay up all night and mutter to herself. I often asked her what was wrong, but she would turn away and sleep without answering.

Gradually, her condition worsened. Dark circles appeared under her eyes, and she began to emit a foul smell. Anyway, I took her to the doctor for a check up, and the doctor prescribed some sleeping pills. 

I gave her the sleeping pills at home and told her to sleep. She fell asleep. In the middle of the night, when I woke up, I was horrified. 

My wife was standing with a knife, ready to kill me. Her hair was disheveled, and her face was filled with a strange fear as if she was not in her senses. Suddenly, she attacked me.

 I escaped from the room, and the noise woke up the household. With great difficulty, we managed to restrain her. 

Her voice had become heavy, and she was repeating some words in a foreign language that we could not understand. My mother started reciting some verses, and she fainted.

My mother said that she was not in her senses, that this was not an illness, but something else. My wife kept saying, "আমি তোমাকে ছাড়ব না, আমি তোমাকে মেরে ফেলব। তুমি আমার বাচ্চাকে মেরেছ।"

When we found out what it meant, we were all shocked. It meant, "I will not leave you, I will kill you. You killed my child." My family and my wife’s parents started getting angry with me, asking what was going on. I remembered that a black cat had come under my car and died. Since then, NAZIA had been changing day by day. My family called a known elder who was an expert in exorcising spirits.

When that elder met NAZIA she looked at him with great anger. He tried to talk to her, but she started shouting in a foreign language. The elder understood the language and told us that she would not leave NAZIA and would take her revenge. As soon as the elder started reciting something, NAZIA attacked him with a knife and killed him on the spot. After this incident, we were very scared. The police took NAZIA and transferred her to a mental hospital. The doctor said that NAZIA was mentally ill.

But we know the truth that NAZIA is not mentally ill. We tried very hard to get her well, but her condition kept worsening. When I visit NAZIA in the mental hospital, she only says one thing: "I will not leave you." Often at night, when I wake up, I feel like someone is watching me in my room, and there is a terrible smell in my room. My mental state is also becoming like NAZIA'S.

Now I can't sleep at night either. A shadow is always following me. I don't go outside anymore, I just stay in my room, and now others can also smell a foul odor coming from me.
